((Hello!

As holidays draw nearer, do we want to reconvene on the order and finish the Desert thread? Or break for now, so our characters can be free for holiday funtimes, and call it at we-stopped-the-shadow-and-there-was-drama? Up to you all.

As for order, though, now it’s Nayru’s turn, and I’m sort of sure it’ll go like Naryu, Anteris, Nabooru, and me.))

{Oh, my goodness, I am so so so sorry!  I totally did not realize it was my turn, otherwise I would have replied much sooner!  Who went last, so I can go get that and yeah?

Also, I am good either way.  I’m a closure person, though, so maybe if we just kind of real quick went to do the thing and tidied things up and that way we can have all those loose ends neatly tied up?  Whot whot?}

((xD Oh, no, sorry, you were right! Danon made their post, so you would follow Link normally. That was all.))

((I guess I don’t really care how we do it. If you all would rather to holiday stuff, that’s fine, and we can just say they tidied it up.Perhaps I can simply make a “And then this all happened” post sort of thing, that would tie it up. I would want input from you guys if we went that route but yeah.

As I said though, we can also finish it up properly if that is what everyone would prefer, too. It just seems to be moving rather slowly, and who knows if we would finish it by the time everyone wants since we all have busy schedules. And then finals are coming up (for me at least) as well.))

((How about…what if we kept going the long way and then, when it became necessary for the holidays and finals, THEN we can wrap it up? » «))

((I kind of want to finish it up because I was really excited over the plot but if others don’t we can skip?? idk))

To the Desert, Part 2! ((Shad, Link, Nayru, Anteris, Nabooru))

Boy Without a Fairy: To the Desert, Part 2! ((Shad, Link, Nayru, Anteris, Nabooru))

The Old Hero’s words still rung in Shad’s ears when the researcher heard the scrape of a blade. Looking up sharply, his mouth dropped when Link demonstrated the defense stance; he outright yelped when the young man then lunged. His eyes darted wildly toward Anteris. He felt…

Nayru sighed again, and followed the others into the Temple.  As she walked in, she let a hand slide over the stone surface of a pillar.  “Ohh, this is nice…there’s a lot here…a lot of a lot, in fact…old things….Nabooru?  How old is this Temple, exactly?”  She could feel it in the air, the dust of ages settling here and there, each particle a story.  She could feel the energy of the past surging around, like pulses, or ripples in water.

Anteris stood in the entry room, having backhanded the flying pots away from her. She was still far too hot, and didn’t want to hold up the party by going outside to the spring. She had closed her eyes, pushing away that feeling in order to sense what was inside the temple.

Her face split into a smile. There were certainly shadows in the temple, among other things. She became aware of her ‘comrades’ coming in behind her. Had she heard sass from Shad? No, it had to have been the sun.

She turned towards them, eyes narrowed because the prospect of having her back facing the sword happy hero. “Well, if you can’t feel it yourself, this place is brimming with dark energy. I bet whatever is the nexus for it exudes darkness and it’s sort of..infecting the surrounding areas.” While it was a rather dire statement, the shadow seemed ecstatic about it. Her demeanor was brighter than it had been the entire trip there.

So, I vote we split up and I go with Shad since he already knows the creepy shit I do and doesn’t outwardly judge me for it.” She looked almost fondly at the scholar.

Shadow Shenanigans(Anteris, Shadow Link, ???)

She had sunk down into the shadows, exiting the tent and poking her partner in crime before darting into the woods. When she was far enough(and sure the other Shadow was still following) she emerged and sat on a branch of a tree.

I feel like a Darkness damned hero right now.” She said with a frown. “I’ve got to find someone to break Ganondorfs’ bling before I can get the Dark Mirror my light half has.” She explained to her partner in crime. She leaned back against the trunk, folding her arms across her chest.
I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to break bindings made of light magic.” She was a bit cross, but there wasn’t much she could do about it at the time. Red eyes stared at the camp. What would be easier to do? Wait for another opportunity?

Do you think it’d just be easier to wait for a chance that doesn’t involve freeing Ganondorf?” She frowned again, realizing she was talking more to herself than to her companion. A nasty habit of course.

Sorry, sorry. I really do want your opinion. I don’t feel like helping Ganondorf. If I’m caught doing that I feel like I’ll get in more trouble because I’m working with him than I would stealing the damn mirror.” She rubbed her face. She could always tattle on him. It might not get Din to give her the mirror but it would prove she could be trusted…. but then she’d have to explain she was trying to steal it.

She stopped staring towards the camp and looked towards Shadow Link.

To the Desert, Part 2! ((Shad, Link, Nayru, Anteris, Nabooru))

Boy Without a Fairy: To the Desert, part 2! : ((Shad, Link, Nayru, Anteris, Nabooru, ??))

Shad felt his heart beating faster when the Hero finally approached Anteris—and for all his efforts! Even more still, when Anteris responded true to shadow form. He inhaled sharply, snapped the cap back onto his waterskin and echoed Nabooru’s sentiment.

“No…ah…no, no we do…

As Nayru watched the scene unfold before her, she could not help but mutter under her breath, “Now, now children…” at the posturing adults.  She smoothed her tunic again, and took a few steps forward.  She hummed a little tune, hoping it would soothe the two, then said, “Ah, yes, I am inclined to agree withe Mr. Shad, the sun is doing it’s work on us.  We’ve all had a long day, and are tired.  Let us get inside and rest for a bit, cool off.”  She gestured to Anteris, “I’m sure you would feel better in some proper shadows…” and then to Link, “And you haven’t been drinking much, I don’t think, you are probably thirsty…”  She smiled again, “Rest is good.  It will clear our minds…!”

As she finished speaking, she started walking backwards towards the Temple, but stopped short as Link lunged.  She then found herself letting out something of a girlish cry, her voice starting shrill and ending stern, “Oh!  No, stop it!”  She was tired herself, and with tire came frustration and irritability.  Her temper was growing shorter by the second, and she had half a mind to take out her harp and literally make them stop.  Her fingers twitched towards the instrument, and the song built in her mind.  No, no, stop that, they’re children, at least they act like it, let them fight it out like kittens, she thought.

Anteris bristled up, mouth open to give the boy a piece of her mind when he lunged at her. She dropped down into her shadow, darting towards the Temple. When she was at its entrance and a safe distance away from the hero she rose again.

“You’re an idiot.” She hissed through her pointed teeth. Raising her voice so it could be heard easily. “Your foolishness astounds me, boy. Is your head so up your own ass that you easily disregard what the Sage and the Oracle say?” It was scolding, in an insulting way.

“You, little man, think your experiences are the most valid here. Your knowledge of ‘my kind’ is probably miniscule and tied to your original quest. Your black and white ideology is juvenile and if my presence upsets you than you’re in for it later. We are here to investigate the mysterious happenings that have led to the disappearance of numerous Gerudo, not to humor your temper tantrum because you have to be around someone you don’t like!” Her double sided lecture/insult over she turned her head slightly, so that an eye could peer into the Temple.

“I’m not going to humor you with a Temple full of shadows and darkness. I’d much rather be eating instead.” She said with finality and slipped through the entrance and into the Temple.

What I mean is…well, how many others can manipulate the shadows?

No one has to answer…I’m just curious really..

Well considering I am a shadow

Oh, but not all of us are actual shadows…per se!

Did you just tell me to check my privilege

“I see…” Ganondorf responded, taking in the shadow’s words. She had good reason behind the burglary, but good reason was not enough. No, the king of thieves knew that well. Even well warranted thievery still resulted in blood if caught. But desperate times called for desperate measures…and what was more desperate than the desire for freedom when burdened by chains? His manacles jingled as he leaned forward.

“I suppose I could lose track of the Oracle’s luggage…if you were to do a favor for me.” His face hardened as he quieted his voice.

“What binds me,” his eyes traced over the golden bracelets encumbering his wrists, “is light magic…magic that neither I nor you can touch. Unfortunately, I have long since worn out the trust of the light world, but you on the other hand, have hope of gaining someone’s trust. Someone that can break this magic seal.”

“Do this and the mirror is yours.”

Her eyes followed his down to the golden bracelets. She scowled slightly down on him. What bound him would have killed her. Her eyes narrowed in thought. It was possible— for her to get the better of someone. She was relatively unknown and there were entire worlds out there that had little knowledge of who the man was.

“You have yourself a deal then.” Anteris agreed, still in thought. She extended a hand towards him for a handshake to seal the deal. “I have just the place to check too.” She seemed almost energized by this— an expression that would have mirrored Dins’ own excitement over the ancient world before Hyrule. And she was going to be able to visit there first! She nearly burst out laughing, but knew that would have attracted attention instantly. Instead she continued holding her hand out and grinning widely, pointed teeth exposed.

To the Desert, part 2! : ((Shad, Link, Nayru, Anteris, Nabooru, ??))

Shad still gaped over the Sand Goddess monolith when everyone began migrating toward the spring. He followed cautiously, eventually taking one massive step forward to block Anteris and the Hero’s line of sight. The shadow was becoming more trite; he tried to catch her eyes again, and perhaps shake his head, but by then he reached the water line and stopped short to keep from scuffing sand into the pool.

He watched Sage Nabooru. Her manner seemed light enough, but her movements were just a little tense—tenser than he remembered, anyway. She behaved much more languidly at the Festival. Was it a matter of location?

Regardless, he circled the spring and crouched, balanced on his feet, beside her. Shad didn’t need an immediate drink, so he set about uncovering his water-skin from his pack and refreshing the contents inside.

As he approached the pool of water, Link became aware of a feeling of discomfort that writhed within him.  Perhaps this was the energy Nabooru had spoken of, the one she had sensed?  But Link had never been so sensitive to dark energy - what was the terminology Zelda had used?  ”Spiritually illiterate”, that was it.  And yet, he felt as if he were imploding with a pressure that pushed against his very being.

It was at this moment that he met the woman known as Anteris’ gaze, and the feeling intensified.  Oh, he was most definitely spiritually illiterate, but he knew from experience what a shadow being was.  Memories of his darker counterpart flashed within his mind’s eye as he took in Anteris’ face - perhaps pretty in another culture, but filling him only with dread.

Instinctively, he assumed a battle stance, his hand gripping the sword strapped at his side.  ”Who are you?” he asked, his voice low and dry with disuse.  Clearing his throat, he asked again, “Who are you?”  But of course, he already knew the answer.

Nayru snapped out of her thoughts upon the realization that she was swiftly headed in a downward direction.  She had been wrapped up, rather cozily too, within her mind, and had not been paying attention very close attention to her surroundings, which now got the better of her.  On her way over to the others, she lost her footing on a particularly loose bit of sand and fell over with a flump.  She started giggling softly, brushing the sand from her face and tunic, then beginning the task of shaking it out of her hair.  Now fully out of her reverie, she became aware of the growing tension, and silenced herself.

Anteris had ever intention of jumping into the water before the hero’s hostile actions caused her to narrow her brow. She had been expecting this to a degree. She stretched idly, looking at the hero from the corner of her eye. Nayru falling distracted her for only a second and made the shadow giggle a little to herself before turning to face the hero. She took a step forward, reaching out to gently push Shad out of the way. If there was to be a fight, she certainly wouldn’t let him in the way.

“My name is Anteris. And I really think you shouldn’t rile yourself up, I didn’t exactly pop up in the middle of the desert, the Sage, Oracle and Shad all know who I am.” She said snarkily, grinning widely and exposing her sharp teeth. “So loosen up little man, I’m here to assist my friends. Or rather..friend.” She didn’t look at Shad, although the man was who she spoke of. She didn’t personally know the other two enough to call them ‘friends’.

“If you’re so eager to fight, I’m sure something will oblige you. I don’t think you want to fight me. Or maybe you do. What do I know of how your mind works.” She said, eyes narrowed a bit at his stance. If he didn’t let up she might have to oblige him.
